General principles

The Queensland Art Gallery is committed to protecting user privacy. We understand and appreciate that visitors and users of this website are concerned about their privacy and the confidentiality and security of any information that may be provided to us.

The Queensland Government has established a privacy regime for the Queensland public sector based on 11 information privacy principles contained in the Queensland Government Information Standard to which agencies are required to adhere. A copy of this standard can be accessed here.

Cookies

When you look at this website, our Internet Service Provider makes a record of your visit and logs the following information for statistical purposes only - the user's server address, the user's top level domain name (for example .com, .gov, .au, etc), the date and time of the visit to the site, the pages accessed and documents downloaded, the previous site visited, and the type of browser used. No attempt is, or will be, made to identify users or their browsing activities except, in the unlikely event of an investigation, where a law enforcement agency may exercise a warrant to inspect activity logs.

Email correspondence, online subscriptions and feedback

This is a Queensland Government website. Email correspondence sent to this site will be treated as a public record and will be retained as required by the Public Records Act 2002 and other relevant regulations.

Your name and address details will not be added to a mailing list unless you are subscribing to one. We will not disclose these details to third parties without your consent unless required by law. However, email messages may be monitored by our network support staff for system troubleshooting and maintenance purposes.

Security of financial transactions

When you make a payment or purchase through the website your personal and financial details are protected at all stages of the transaction by powerful encryption technology called SSL. Your credit card details are NOT stored on our servers at any stage of the transaction. Once the credit card details have been sent to our financial institution they are no longer known to our system. This ensures that your credit card details are seen only by yourself and the bank performing the transactions, in this case, Westpac.
