Access, Education and Regional Services
Access, Education and Regional Services
Access, Education and Regional Services provides a vital link between the Gallery and the wider community. It is the role of this section to develop a comprehensive range of interpretive programs that encourage our audiences to engage with the wonders and complexities of contemporary culture. The Collections, exhibitions and spaces of the Queensland Art Gallery offer a wealth of teaching and learning experiences for students of all ages and our resources are developed in the belief that encountering art at first hand is an essential element to understanding. We are committed to exploring new approaches to education and to developing multidimensional programs and materials that are designed to encourage critical thinking and creative expression, in both the Art Gallery and beyond.
The Queensland Art Gallery’s public programs are designed to contextualize current exhibitions and to address the broader issues and debates surrounding contemporary culture. Artists, writers, academics as well as other key cultural commentators are invited to participate in a wide range of lectures, conversations and symposia.
For those audience members living in regional and remote Queensland, who are unable to access the Gallery on a regular basis the section provides a range of Regional Services. A dynamic program of travelling exhibitions and programs is offered to regional Queensland communities via the Gallery's On tour program.
