The 5th  Asia–Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art (APT5)

APT5 included around 270 works by 37 individual artists, filmmakers and performers, as well as two multi-artist projects. Highlights included numerous commissioned works by artists such as Ai Weiwei (China), Dinh Q Lê (Vietnam) and eX de Medici (Australia), as well as the Triennial’s strongest representation of Pacific artists to date.

Kiss of the Beast

'Kiss of the Beast', the premiere program of the Queensland Art Gallery's Australian Cinematheque, is an integrated exhibition and film program exploring the origins and influences of the classic 1933 film King Kong in art, film, literature and popular culture.

Prime 2005

Showcasing the work of contemporary artists aged 35 and under, 'Prime 2005: New Art from Queensland' highlights the strength and diversity of current art practice in Queensland.

Pop: The Continuing Influence of Popular Culture on Contemporary Art

Story Place: Indigenous Art of Cape York and the Rainforest

'Story Place' is Australia's first major survey exhibition of historical and contemporary art work from Cape York Peninsula. This website focuses on nine of the artists featured in the exhibition and presents their art work in the context of each artist's place of origin and the stories that they tell.

APT 2002

APT 2002 featured work by a core group of influential artists from the Asia-Pacific region who have challenged and shaped the course of contemporary art and modern culture over the past four decades. These works are supplemented by a younger generation of artists who have explored related ideas and themes.

Third Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art, 1999-2000

APT3 was the largest and most broadly representative of the Asia-Pacific Triennial exhibitions organised by the Queensland Art Gallery, and this website ― featuring the work of more than 80 artists ― showcases the amazing diversity of contemporary art from the Asia-Pacific region.

Lines of Descent: The Family in Contemporary Asian Art

This website was developed to support a travelling exhibition of contemporary Asian art drawn from the Queensland Art Gallery Collection.

Problem-Wisdom: An Installation by Kamin Lertchaiprasert

An online interpretation of a sculptural installation by the Thai artist, Kamin Lertchaiprasert, which was exhibited at the 'Second Asia-Pacific Triennial of Contemporary Art' in 1996, before being acquired for the Queensland Art Gallery's Collection.

This website was developed to coincide with the 2001-02 exhibition 'William Robinson ― A Retrospective', which celebrated the work of this senior Queensland artist.

Northern Journey: Conrad Martens in Early Queensland

This website presents the works of the colonial artist Conrad Martens painted during his travels around southern Queensland during the mid nineteenth century.

Fortitude: New Art from Queensland

This exhibition featured the work of ten young Queensland contemporary artists working in a wide variety of media including painting, sculpture, installation and digital media. 'Fortitude' was presented in association with the Energex Brisbane Festival in 2000.

Lady Woodcarvers of Rockhampton

A strong tradition of ornate woodcarving by women emerged in Central Queensland during the first few decades of the twentieth century. This website presents a survey of work by 13 women woodcarvers. Presented in association with Rockhampton Art Gallery.
