What is the Premier of Queensland’s National New Media Art Award?
The Premier of Queensland’s National New Media Art Award comprises a biennial acquisitive Award of $75 000, a biennial scholarship of $25 000 and an exhibition at the Media Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art. The inaugural exhibition was held in 2008 and the second exhibition will be held from 28 August to 7 November 2010. The award recognises the achievement of an Australian artist whose work encompasses new media. The scholarship will be awarded to an emerging Queensland-based artist working in the field of new media for the development of their practice through further study or travel.

The Premier of Queensland’s National New Media Art Award is by invitation only.
What is the Premier of Queensland’s New Media Scholarship?
The scholarship will be awarded to an emerging Queensland-based artist working in the field of new media for the development of their practice through further study, travel or related professional development opportunities. The scholarship recipient's work is not included in the exhibition. Application forms can be downloaded here
Who selects the award and scholarship winner?
A selection committee comprising Tony Ellwood, Director, Queensland Art Gallery; Bec Dean, Associate Director, Performance Space, Sydney; and Larissa Hjorth, artist and Senior Lecturer in Digital Art and Games Programs at the School of Creative Media and Computer Science at RMIT, Melbourne.
When will the short-list and winners be announced?
Short-listed artists for the exhibition and award were announced in July 2010. The Premier of Queensland, Anna Bligh, MP, is scheduled to announce the award winner and the scholarship recipient at the exhibition's official opening on Friday 27 August 2010.
The exhibition will be presented at the Media Gallery, Gallery of Modern Art, 28 August – 7 November 2010.
