'A Day at the Beach' presented art on the well-loved Australian theme of seaside recreation. Children were invited to relive the tradition of a day at the beach through art works, interactive displays and art-making activities.
Some of the art works featured a shark mask, images of sunbathers, surfers and colourful beach umbrellas, as well as a life-size manta ray made from car tyres. 'A Day at the Beach' was the Gallery's first touring exhibition for children and it completed an 11-venue tour of regional Queensland in April 2002.
