'Animals Who Think They are People'

'Animals Who Think They are People'

'Animals Who Think They are People' was a re-creation of the art work Bella casa, the home of a family of pigs.

Animals Who Think They are People

29 August - 29 October 2000
Gallery 17, Queensland Art Gallery

'Animals Who Think They are People' depicted animals in human situations. The exhibition space was designed as a large-scale re-creation of Bella casa 1978-79 by Sandra Taylor ― a ceramic model of a 1960s house and garden occupied by a family of pigs.

Children explored the art works inside the brightly coloured, life-size cartoon house. By pushing buttons, children activated sound recordings of animal voices that explained the art works. A live colony of mice lived in the display throughout the duration of the exhibition.
