Kuril's hideout at the 'Blak Insights' exhibition

Kuril's hideout, part of the children's program for 'Blak Insights'.

'Blak Insights' for kids

3 July - 3 October 2004
Gallery 2, 3, 13, 14, 17, Pelican Pool Lounge & Watermall

'Blak Insights', an exhibition of contemporary Indigenous art from the Queensland Art Gallery Collection, featured exhibition mascot Kuril, the hip, urban water rat. A free activity book and exhibition labels were designed especially for kids.

By pressing audio buttons in the gallery spaces, young visitors could hear Kuril talk about some of the amazing art works on display ― paintings, sculptures, photographs and films by Indigenous artists from across Australia. Children and families also explored Kuril's Gallery hideouts, where visitors could find out lots of interesting facts about Kuril and Indigenous culture.
