'Portraits are People Pictures' was the first of the Gallery's exhibitions designed specifically for children. The exhibition, displayed at children's eye level, featured diverse works exploring the history, styles and techniques of portrait painting. With easy-to-read labels, children delighted in examining paintings, sculpture, photography, ceramics, prints, carvings, collages and cut-outs.
A special interactive display, incorporating sound, encouraged children to explore the techniques of portrait painting. Portrait-making workshops and performances were also presented.
